Primary Music Exchange 2026 is a 1.5-day professional learning event that places you at the centre of the experience, as both learner and practitioner. Explore new approaches from the inside out, connect with music teachers from international schools around the world, and take ideas back to your classroom the very next day.
Two days. Two distinct experiences.
Immersive Learning in Action
Built around active participation, collaborative reflection and classroom practice in action. You'll experience music education as a learner, then share what works in your own classroom alongside children and colleagues.
-
KS2 Instrumental Lesson Join a lesson on an instrument you've never played, and reflect on challenge, progress and inclusion through the eyes of a learner.
-
The Big Sing Teachers and children learn together, with colleagues invited to lead short singing activities that model successful practice.
-
Collaborative Teaching Share practical lesson ideas by teaching them directly with children, giving everyone the chance to observe, discuss and reflect in context.
-
Early Years & KS1 Focus Explore play-based music learning in our new EY music space through songs, games and practical activities.
Conference & Workshops
Day 2 moves into a more traditional conference format, giving you space to go deeper, explore specific areas of practice and hear from a range of experienced international school music educators.
-
Presenter-led Sessions Hear from experienced practitioners sharing their practice, research and approaches from international school classrooms.
-
Music Tech at EY and Primary Explore a range of approaches for how to integrate electronic music and music production for EY and primary lessons.
-
Discussion & Networking Time to connect with colleagues, share resources and build your professional learning community across the international school world.
What makes this event different?
This isn't a sit-and-listen event. It's professional learning you feel.
Learn Alongside Children
Experience what it's like to be a beginner again, and bring that empathy directly back into your teaching.
Real Classroom Contexts
See ideas tested in live teaching situations, not just described in a lecture hall.
Peer Observation & Reflection
Observe colleagues teach, discuss what you notice, and reflect together on what works and why.
EY & KS1 Dedicated Strand
A full strand for Early Years and Key Stage 1, with play-based music learning in a purpose-built space.
International School Community
Connect and collaborate with music teachers from international schools across Asia and beyond.
Practice-Led Sharing
Every idea shared is something that already works in an international school classroom. No theory for theory's sake.
